Auld Lang Syne

Robert Burns · 1796 CE · Poem · English · Romantic

Two old friends ask each other whether acquaintance should be forgot and never brought to mind, and take a cup of kindness yet for the sake of times long past. Between the verses they remember running about the braes and pulling the gowans fine, and paidling in the burn from morning sun till dine, before broad seas roared between them. Burns sent it to the Scots Musical Museum insisting he had only taken it down from an old man's singing, though at least half of it is his.
