A Red, Red Rose

Robert Burns · 1794 CE · Poem · English · Romantic

The speaker's love is a rose newly sprung in June, and a melodie sweetly played in tune. He will go on loving her till a' the seas gang dry and the rocks melt wi' the sun, and swears to come again to her though it were ten thousand mile. Burns handed it to the collector Pietro Urbani as a simple old Scots song he had taken down from a country girl's singing.
