In Love and Trouble

Alice Walker · 1973 CE · Short Story · Modern / American · Contemporary

Thirteen stories of Black women in the rural South: a bride weighing her vows in the middle of the ceremony, a college daughter who comes home wanting her mother's quilts for the wall, a woman who takes a grievance to a conjure doctor. Walker subtitled the collection Stories of Black Women and set most of it in the Georgia she grew up in. It carries Everyday Use, now among the most anthologised of American stories.
