Liolà
Almond-shelling season in the Agrigento countryside, and the farmhand who sings his way through the work is raising three small sons by three different women, all of whom remain fond of him. The rich old landowner nearby has a young wife who has given him no heir, a niece kept close about the house, and a fortune that will go to whoever can produce one. Pirandello wrote it in Sicilian in a few days and thought it the least Pirandellian and the happiest thing he made.
