Magnolia

Paul Thomas Anderson · 1999 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

Over one day in the San Fernando Valley a dying producer wants the son he abandoned, the quiz-show host who has fronted his programme for thirty years gets a diagnosis, a former child champion sells electronics badly, and a hospice nurse tries to make the phone calls nobody else will. Nine strands hold together by coincidence and by the same songs. Anderson's three-hour ensemble was greenlit on the strength of Boogie Nights.
