Nosferatu

F. W. Murnau · 1922 CE · Film · German · Modernist

An estate agent's clerk is sent across the Carpathians to close a property sale with a client who keeps to his castle by day, and the ship carrying his coffins to Wisborg makes port with a dead crew and a hold of rats. Murnau shot real landscapes in daylight, using negative stock and stop-motion for the coach into the mountains rather than painted flats. An unlicensed Stoker that survived a court-ordered destruction.
