Parable of the Sower

Octavia E. Butler · 1993 CE · Novel · Modern / American · Contemporary

In a walled cul-de-sac outside Los Angeles in 2024, with water sold by the gallon and the country coming apart beyond the gate, a preacher's teenage daughter keeps a journal and drafts verses about a God who is change. She also has hyperempathy and feels the pain she witnesses, which is a poor trait for the road she will be on. Butler set the collapse thirty years ahead of her own desk and got a great deal of the furniture right.
