Planet of the Apes

Franklin J. Schaffner · 1968 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary

An American spacecraft comes down on a desert world after two thousand years of relativistic travel, and three surviving astronauts walk out to find mute humans driven through cornfields by gorillas on horseback. Caged and studied, the one who can still speak is taken up by two chimpanzee scientists and put before a tribunal that has already decided what he is. John Chambers's prosthetic makeup won an honorary Oscar.
