Sexing the Cherry
The Dog-Woman, a giantess who breeds fighting dogs on the Thames bank, fishes a foundling out of the river and raises him through plague, fire and the execution of a king. Grown, Jordan sails with the royal gardener after pineapples and then keeps going, into cities that fly and a house where twelve princesses each account for the husband she left. Two figures in present-day London carry the same argument about time forward, in Winterson's most cited experiment with it.
