The Book of Ruth
A Judean widow in Moab tells her two foreign daughters-in-law to go back to their own families, and one of them will not: whither thou goest, I will go. Ruth follows Naomi home to Bethlehem, gleans behind the harvesters in a field belonging to a kinsman, and is noticed there. Kindness as quiet providence.
