The Crossing

Cormac McCarthy · 1994 CE · Novel · Modern / American · Contemporary

A pregnant wolf comes north into the New Mexico boot heel, and the boy who finally traps her decides she should be carried home over the mountains rather than skinned for the bounty. He makes the crossing three times in the years that follow, the second with his younger brother and the third alone. Hermits, gypsies and a blind revolutionary stop him on the road to tell stories that settle nothing.
