The Glass Menagerie

Tennessee Williams · 1944 CE · Play · Modern / American · Contemporary

A St Louis mother who was once courted by seventeen gentlemen callers presses her son to bring a young man home for his sister, who left secretarial school after a week and keeps a shelf of small glass animals. The son narrates it years afterward from the merchant marine, admitting at the outset that memory is lit and scored to suit the one remembering. Williams drew it out of his own family and an earlier story of his about his sister.
