The Wouldbegoods

E. Nesbit · 1901 CE · Novel · English · Victorian

Having built a jungle in a London garden out of an uncle's collection of stuffed animals, the Bastables are sent to a country house in the hope that any further damage will at least be outdoors. They found a society for being good, with a book to record the deeds in, and discover that every well-meant act produces a larger disaster than idleness would have. Oswald keeps the record and remains firmly of the view that they were badly used.
