Greek myth · c. 600 BCE · Myth / Legend · Greek · Ancient
Athens is made to send young men and women to Crete as tribute, to be fed to the Minotaur kept in Daedalus's labyrinth. Theseus, son of the Athenian king, volunteers among them, and the Cretan princess Ariadne gives him a ball of thread. Into the maze with a thread; the labyrinth as every difficult interior.
