Bring in the Wine

Li Bai · c. 752 CE · Poem · Chinese · Medieval

See how the Yellow River comes down out of heaven and runs to the sea without ever coming back, and see in the bright mirror of the hall the hair that was black at morning. Since heaven made this particular talent it must be good for something, so kill the sheep, cook the ox, and let the sober sages of antiquity stay forgotten while the great drinkers keep their names. Written to a Music Bureau drinking title.
