Doctor Zhivago

David Lean · 1965 CE · Film · English · Contemporary

A doctor and poet in the last years of tsarist Russia marries into a Moscow family and keeps crossing paths with a young woman already damaged by the lawyer who has taken her as a mistress. Revolution, a field hospital and a requisitioned house scatter them across the country and throw them together where neither can stay. Lean's version reached enormous audiences while the book behind it stayed banned in the Soviet Union.
