Don't Look Now

Daphne du Maurier · 1971 CE · Short Story · English · Contemporary

An English couple wintering in Venice after the death of their small daughter are approached in a restaurant by two elderly sisters, one of them blind and claiming second sight. He treats the warning to leave the city as nonsense while his wife takes it for consolation, and he begins catching sight of a small figure in a red coat along the back canals. Collected in Not After Midnight, it is the most admired of du Maurier's late supernatural tales.
