King Hedley II
King is out of prison for killing the man who cut his face, selling stolen refrigerators in 1985 to raise the stake for a video store, and planting seeds in a strip of dirt where nothing will grow. His mother Ruby has taken up again with Elmore, who knew her before King was born, and his wife Tonya does not want the child she is carrying. Wilson's Reagan-decade entry returns to figures from the 1940s and is the harshest in the cycle.
