The Piano Lesson
Boy Willie drives up from Mississippi in 1936 with a truckload of watermelons and a plan: sell the piano in his sister's parlour and buy the land their family worked as slaves. Berniece will not part with it, because their great-grandfather carved the family's faces into its legs and their father died taking it, and the ghost of its old owner has been seen upstairs. Wilson took the image from a Romare Bearden collage.
