Peace

A vine-grower fattens a dung beetle on the produce of his stable, rides it up to heaven, and finds the gods moved out and War grinding the Greek cities in a mortar with the goddess Peace shut in a pit. He calls up farmers from every state to haul her out on ropes while the arms dealers and the oracle-mongers work to stop the digging. Staged days before the treaty of 421 was signed, and the most openly festive of the war comedies.
