The Farthest Shore

Ursula K. Le Guin · 1972 CE · Novel · Modern / American · Contemporary

Wizards across the archipelago are forgetting their spells, singers the words of their songs, and the dyers' colours have gone dull; a young prince out of Enlad carries the news to Roke. The Archmage takes the boy south and then west in an open boat, past raft-dwellers and a dragon shore, hunting the hole through which the world is draining. It took the National Book Award for Children's Books in 1973.
