A fired research chief at a tobacco company knows what his employer understood about nicotine and is bound by a confidentiality agreement; a television producer talks him into an interview, and his marriage, his severance and his medical cover come apart while the lawyers work. Then the network declines to air it. Mann dramatised a suppression that the broadcaster involved was still disputing when the picture opened.
