The Silver Chair
Two children running from bullies get through a door in the school wall and are set a task: find the lost son of Narnia's old king, guided by four signs they must recite until learnt. Beyond the giant country they are fed and flattered in a castle promising a feast, and under it a lit kingdom where a young man is bound each night to a silver chair. Puddleglum's answer to the enchantress is the nearest Lewis came to arguing his case in a story.
