The Magician's Nephew

C. S. Lewis · 1955 CE · Novel · English · Contemporary

A girl exploring an attic passage with the boy next door is tricked by his uncle into putting on a yellow ring, and the two surface in a still wood full of pools, each pool a way into a different world. One takes them to a dead red-lit city where a bell and a hammer wait under an inscription daring the finder to strike. Written fifth, it goes back to how Narnia was made, where the lamp-post came from and who the professor once was.
