The Horse and His Boy

C. S. Lewis · 1954 CE · Novel · English · Contemporary

A boy raised by a Calormene fisherman learns he is about to be sold, and rides north in the dark with a talking Narnian war-horse who has been a captive as long as he has. Joined by a runaway Tarkheena and her mare, he is mistaken for someone else in the great southern city and overhears a prince's plan to take Archenland by surprise. The one volume set almost wholly outside Narnia, and the one whose Calormenes have drawn the most criticism.
