True West
Austin is house-sitting his mother's place east of Los Angeles, watering her plants and working up a period screenplay, when his older brother Lee comes in off the desert and starts casing the neighbourhood for televisions to steal. Lee talks his way into a meeting with Austin's producer and sells a chase picture of his own, after which the typewriter, the toasters and the two lives all change hands. The last of the family plays and Shepard's most performed, built on the two halves of a country that each brother is certain the other is faking.
