District and Circle
Seamus Heaney · 2006 CE · Poem · English · Contemporary
Sonnets set on the London Underground in the months after the 2005 bombings sit beside poems of turnip-snedders in a field and the Tollund Man seen again. The district and the circle of the title are a Tube line and the poet's own rounds of memory. A late collection by the Nobel poet, awarded the Eliot Prize.
