The Moons of Jupiter

Alice Munro · 1982 CE · Short Story · Modern / American · Contemporary

A woman sits with her father in a Toronto cardiac ward while he waits on a decision about surgery, and between visits she goes to the planetarium and lets a recorded voice name the moons of Jupiter over her head. Around that: a girl on a turkey-gutting line at Christmas, an affair conducted by long distance, a country dinner that goes wrong in the heat. The collection where Munro's handling of time hardens into method.
