Shakuntala
A king hunting in the forest meets Shakuntala, the foster daughter of a hermit, and the two marry by consent, with his ring left as her token. A slighted sage then curses her so that the man she loves will not know her, and she travels to his court carrying his child. The jewel of Sanskrit drama, and the play that carried Indian theater to Europe.
