The Aleph
Every year on the dead Beatriz Viterbo's birthday the narrator calls at her father's house on Garay Street and listens to her cousin Daneri read from an interminable poem versifying the whole surface of the planet. When the house is condemned Daneri panics and explains why he cannot move: in the cellar, on the nineteenth step, is a point that contains every other point. A grief story in the costume of a literary satire.
