Danny the Champion of the World

Roald Dahl · 1975 CE · Novel · English · Contemporary

A boy raised by his father in a gypsy caravan behind a filling station learns at nine that the man has been walking into the wood at night to poach pheasants, and has done since before the boy was born. The birds belong to a brewery millionaire who stocks them for one shooting party a year and sets keepers against anyone who touches them. Dahl built it out of his own adult story The Champion of the World.
