La Belle Dame sans Merci
A questioner finds an armed man loitering alone and palely on a cold hillside where the sedge has withered and no birds sing, and asks what ails him. His answer is a lady he met in the meads, full beautiful, a faery's child, who fed him roots of relish sweet and wild honey and took him to her elfin grot. Keats took the title from Alain Chartier and almost nothing else, and drafted the ballad in a single sitting in April 1819.
