Life Is a Dream

Calderón de la Barca · 1635 CE · Play · Spanish · Renaissance

A king of Poland, warned by the stars that his son will be a tyrant, has the boy raised in chains in a tower with one keeper. Wanting proof before he disinherits him, he has the prince drugged, carried to court, and told on waking that the palace is his and the tower was a dream. Acting well when nothing is certain.
