Rope
Alfred Hitchcock · 1948 CE · Film · Modern / American · Contemporary
Two Manhattan graduates strangle a classmate in their apartment, hide the body in a chest, and serve supper off the lid to the dead man's father, his fiancée and their old prep-school housemaster. The talk works round to the housemaster's line about superior men being entitled to murder, which one host has taken literally. Hitchcock disguised ten-minute takes as a single unbroken eighty minutes, and it was his first in colour.
