Runaway Horses
Honda, by 1932 a judge in Osaka, sees three moles under the arm of a kendo student and recognizes a friend nineteen years dead. The boy Isao carries a pamphlet about a failed samurai rising of 1876 and is assembling a band of his own to kill the financiers he blames for the ruin of the countryside. The second volume moves the cycle from court romance to political fanaticism.
