The Road
A defrocked church clerk who calls himself Professor keeps a roadside shack of forged licences and salvaged crash debris, hunting the Word he believes is hidden inside the instant of a fatal accident. Drivers, touts and thugs drink and wait, and a mute palm-wine tapper moves among them carrying something none of them will name. Soyinka's densest play, built on the Yoruba agemo masquerade.
