The Post Office
A sick child, adopted into a trader's house and confined indoors on his doctor's orders, watches the road from a window and questions the curd-seller, the watchman and a flower girl about where they are going. He settles on the idea that the new post office opposite will one day bring him a letter from the King, and everyone who passes plays along. Janusz Korczak staged it at his orphanage in the Warsaw ghetto in July 1942, three weeks before the children were deported to Treblinka.
