Eugene Onegin
A bored St Petersburg dandy inherits a country estate, befriends a young romantic poet, and receives a letter from a neighbor's daughter declaring that she loves him. He turns her down with a lecture, then flirts with her sister at a name-day ball to needle his friend. A novel in verse, and the book Russian literature has been answering ever since.
