House Taken Over
A brother and sister in their forties, neither married, keep the deep old Buenos Aires house their family built, dividing the day between sweeping its rooms, French novels and wool that will never be made into anything. One afternoon he hears a muffled sound from the back wing, bolts the oak door, and tells her they have taken over the back part. Cortázar's first published story.
