Mr. Sampath

Srinivas brings out a one-man weekly of philosophical opinion, kept in print by a printer who is charming, indispensable and always somewhere else. When the press fails the printer reinvents himself as a producer of moving pictures and pulls his editor in to script a mythological about Shiva and Kama, which the studio's requirements steadily deform. Narayan's send-up of the South Indian studio business, written while he watched it operate from Mysore.
