Macbeth

William Shakespeare · c. 1606 CE · Play · English · Renaissance

Three witches meet a Scottish general on the heath and greet him as the king he has not yet thought of becoming; his wife makes sure he acts on it. A crown taken that way has to be defended, and the rest of the prophecy is still waiting. Ambition unbound by conscience; prophecy as the rope a man hangs himself with.
