All's Well That Ends Well
William Shakespeare · c. 1605 CE · Play · English · Renaissance
Helena, a physician's daughter raised in the Countess's household, cures the King of France of a disease his doctors gave up on and asks for Bertram's hand as her reward. He marries under royal order, leaves at once for the Tuscan wars, and sends word of two conditions he considers impossible. A comedy that refuses to feel like one.
