Timon of Athens

William Shakespeare · c. 1606 CE · Play · English · Renaissance

A wealthy Athenian gives away jewels, horses, money and feasts to anyone who asks, and waves off every offer of repayment. When his creditors call the debts in at once, the friends he enriched all find reasons to be unavailable, and he invites them to one more banquet. Generosity curdled to curses.
